born out of a personal crisis.
Skylight was born out of a personal crisis. When his daughter needed specialty care, our co-founder and CMO, Doug Smith, found himself navigating the system not as the physician he’d trained to be, but as an exhausted, overwhelmed advocate. Despite his M.D., his professional relationships, and the time and resources most people don’t have, Doug struggled to find the best doctor to care for his daughter – waiting months to get scheduled, dealing with prior authorization and specialty pharmacy issues, and then coordinating the care and treatment plan across multiple specialists. That experience left him with one question: if it was this hard for him, how does most patients get the care they need?
Skylight exists to answer that question — coordinating care between payers, primary care physicians and specialists to create a specialty care experience that works for patients.
